Hill & Dale Garden Club meets

The Hill & Dale Garden Club met recently at the Wrightsville Community Church with 27 members present. The group had volunteered at the House of Hope and had raked part of the fence area and filled five garbage cans. The group’s mile marker will be cleaned and mulched in May. Garden Therapy at the Rouse will be June 9 starting at 1 p.m. Warren County’s master gardener plant sale is May 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Betts Park.

Bridge league

winners announced

Monday evening at the YMCA, Shelley Dahlie and Pat Fincher came in first with Penny Miller and Dave Benedict in second. Connie Michell and Bill Massa were first and second Tuesday at the Allegheny Community Center. Thursday play at the Woman’s Club found Jo Simonsen in first and Marge Polito in second. Bridge classes are being planned for the summer at the Woman’s Club. These will be combined beginner and refresher classes held on Monday mornings beginning at 9:30 a.m. Call 723-5910 to register.

Elk Township

Historical Society to host first open house of 2025

SCANDIA – The Elk Township Historical Society will host its first museum open house of 2025 from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the museum, located in the former Scandia school at the four corners in Scandia. The museum, located in an 1800s one room school, includes artifacts from life in Elk Township homes, 100 years of Scandia school records and photos, cemetery grave records, notebooks of early Elk Township families, a selection of Elk Township history books written by local authors and local obituaries. There is also a community center and pavilion available for parties, an indoor pickleball court where games are played at 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays. The society also hosts a Wednesday women’s group. The museum is free and all are welcome.

Library to host two

events this week

The Warren Public Library will host a movie night at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Slater Room. The 1967 film, Cool Hand Luke, stars Paul Newman. The library will also host a 30-minute meditation from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Thursday in the Jefferson Room.

Class of 1959 meets

The WHS Class of 1959 will meet on Thursday at noon at Blueberry Golf Course. Spouses and guests are welcome.
