Gospel singer to perform
The Chandlers Valley United Methodist church on Jackson Run Road in Chandlers Valley is hosting gospel singer Dan Schall at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19. Dan and his wife Linda live in Zelienople, Pa. A spaghetti dinner where the cost is a donation will be served at 5 p.m. before the concert.
Philomel Club to wrap up season
The Philomel Club of Warren held its final meeting for the 2023-2024 season on May 8 with a social time, business meeting and a musical program. The program “Wind and Wires” will consist of Mozart’s Quartet in D Major (K. 285) with Becky Darbee on the flute, Brenda Schnick on the violin, Karen Landin on the viola and cellist Chad Betts. Cathy Peterson, pianist, sill follow with Brahms’ Waltz in B Minor Op 39, No 11 and conclude the program with Bossa Pipa by Edwin McLean.
Detour announced in Freehold Twp.
PennDOT has updated the detour that will come with repairs to the Lottsville Niobe Road Bridge set for next construction season. The bridge is located on Lottsville Niobe Road near the intersection with Huntley Road. The project includes the replacement of the upper portion of the existing bridge. Work will also include minor paving near the bridge and updates to drainage and roadway shoulders. No right-of-way acquisition is anticipated. Work is expected to occur in the 2025 construction season. The proposed detour route has been updated since the initial public comment period. The current proposal is a 5.1-mile detour route that will be posted using Stillwater Road and Huntley Road. The existing concrete adjacent box beam bridge was built in 1987. It is classified as poor condition. Approximately 200 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.
Outdoor club to bike/hike
The Allegheny Outdoor CLub will ride or hike the TAME trail in Kane, meeting at the trailhead across from the Country Fair along US 6 at 2 p.m.
