LIBRARY NEWS

¯ Story time: Tuesday, October 10th join Friend of the Library Diane Danielson for Youngsville Library’s monthly Story Time from 10:30 am – 11 am. Targeted ages are 3-5 years, but all are welcome. No registration required to participate. Join us for stories, songs, dancing, and fun activities. Story time is held the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

¯ Holiday Hours: Youngsville Public Library will be open regular business hours next week. This includes being open on Monday, October 9th (Indigenous People’s Day/Columbus Day). Regular business hours are Monday & Wednesday 10 am – 6 pm, Tuesday 10 am – 3 pm, and Friday, 11 am – 4 pm. Questions call 814-563-7670.

BOROROUGH NEWS

¯ Borough Leaf Schedule: With the change of the season comes leaf season. The Yngs Boro Leaf Pick up Schedule will start on Monday, October 16th. Reminder: please rake leaves to the curb. Do NOT rake leaves into the street. Please no stones. Bundle branches and pile separately. Thank you. Questions 814-563-4604. Mondays: Railroad Street, East Main, Davis, College, Orchard, Oak, and Church Streets. Tuesdays: Woodard Street, Poplar, Ford, IOOF, March, Bates, and Pleasant Streets. Wednesday: Brown Hill, Water, Mill, Highland, Second, West Main, Old Pittsfield, High, Broad, Beckenwood, and Sonia Streets. Thursdays: 3rd to 9th Streets, Dillon, Division, North Main, Yucha, McGraw, Spring, Hillside, and Laverne Streets. Fridays: Areas not completed on assigned days.

¯ Borough Holiday Hours: The Youngsville Borough office and DPW services will be open and operational on Monday, October 9th. Garbage pick up will be the regular schedule as well. Questions 814-563-4604.

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS

¯ Turkey Party: Saturday, October 14th at the Garland Firehall. Doors open at 6:00 pm, main raffles begin at 7:00 pm. Free Admission but must be 18 years of age to attend Turkey Party. BYOB/Kitchen will be open. $20.00 for (2) numbers play every spin for: Turkeys, Hams, & cash. Side raffles for guns and cash. Instant tickets. Also, Fall Gun Raffle (11) guns & (4) $250 cash prizes. Drawings for FALL RAFFLE held at end of the party. See any GVFD member for Gun Raffle tickets. Hope to see you there!

¯ Family Fun Fall Festival: Sunday, October 9th from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the Kinzua Heritage Festival Grounds (4047 Fox Hill Rd, Russell) there will be a Family Fun Fall Festival sponsored by Chief Cornplanter Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Kinzua Heritage Festival. This event is free and open to the public. Concessions are available for a cost. There will be a blacksmith demo, haunted hunting lodge, horse drawn carriage rides, crafts, historic military display, face painting, and Samantha Skinner’s “Four Seasons Petting Zoo and Rescue.” Olive the therapy dog (associated with the Sheriff’s department) will be in attendance. There will also be a costume contest in various age-categories: (a) babies, (b) toddlers up to age 4, (c) ages 5-12, (d) ages 13-17, and (e) adults 18 and up. The public is also invited to bring a pre-decorated pumpkin to be judged for prizes. The goal is for people to come and have a good time.

¯ Pancake Breakfast: Sunday, October 8th from 7:30 am – 11:00 am there will be a Pancake Breakfast at the Spring Creek Sportsman’s Club (Turner Hill Road, Spring Creek). Please stop by and enjoy some eggs, sausage, and pancakes. Donation only. Support our future hunters in a great tradition. Meet some of your neighbors and new friends.

¯ WCCBI Job Fair: WCCBI and Quick Staff of Warren/Employer Strategic Partnership are hosting a job fair at the Warren Library from Noon – 4:00 pm on Wednesday, October 11th. This is FREE to the community. There will also be free cover letter writing help made available by staff from PA CareerLink.

¯ Ghost Tour Library Theatre: On Wednesday, October 11th from 6:00 – 7:00 pm there will be a Ghost Tour offered at the Struthers Library Theater (302 West 3rd Ave., Warren). Adults $10/Students $5. Group rates available – call 814-723-7231. Back for another year due to popular demand. Explore Struthers Library Theatre on a haunted walking tour. This 140-year-old historical theatre has many stories to tell. We’ve collected first-hand accounts of sightings and hair-raising encounters in this Grande-dame we call Struthers Library Theatre. ¯ 4-H Halloween Event: Open to the public! Thursday, October 12th from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm the Warren County 4-H Halloween Get Together will be at the Warren County Fairgrounds. Come and learn what Warren County 4-H is all about and also vote on your favorite decorated table. Light refreshments will be available.

¯ Johnny Appleseed Festival: The annual Johnny Appleseed Festival at Sheffield Memorial Park is Friday, Oct 13th – Sunday, Oct 15th. This festival has become one of the premier stops on the professional lumberjack circuit. It draws many of the very best competitors from the U.S. and Canada. Come enjoy a great family event with plenty of activities for the kids, antique tractor pulls, live music, wine and spirits, and apple pie baking contest, a cornhole tournament, vendors, fireworks, and so much more.
