Dinner club to meet

The Newton Dinner Club will meet for a picnic at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, at the home of Carol Cornell.

Master Gardeners to meet today

RUSSELL — A group of Penn State Extension Warren County Master Gardners will be available to meet with the public at 6:30 p.m. today at the Russell United Methodist Church. The group will discuss their new demonstration gardens, why the gardens were located where they are, the ease of creating raised bed gardens and the materials used for their creation. The public will have an opportunity to ask any questions about gardening and plants.

Sharon Rissell and Bill Kuppinger came in first on Monday evening at the YMCA while Betsy Senger and Carol Stone came in second. Marge Polito and Bill Massa were first and second Tuesday afternoon at the Allegheny Community Center. At the Woman’s Club Thursday afternoon, Connie Lucia placed first and Marge Polito was second. Anyone interested is encouraged to call the Woman’s Club at (814) 723-5910 to reserve a spot for the refresher course beginning Sept. 27.
