A fire broke out in a shed behind Tops Markets in Youngsville around 6 p.m. this evening.

Youngsville VFD Chief Vern Edmisten said the shed, which is attached to the store, is a total loss. He said the fire spread into the roof of Tops causing some smoke damage but no direct fire damage.

There is some scorching on the outside of the grocery store. Tops is closed for the evening but it’s not yet clear whether the store will need to remain closed.
