Snow Day

Oh, snow day, oh snow day,

Please never go away.

It’s okay if you come a little chilled,

Just make a child’s snow wish fulfilled.

Nobody in the world will frown,

So long as the snow comes down.

Hearing the home phone ring, my fingers were crossed,

My mother looked at me and paused,

Is it a snow day I thought in my head,

“It’s a snow day,” I yelled from my bed!

As I looked out the window, I smiled with glee,

There was snow for the whole town to see.

I got a mug of cocoa and cozied up,

And took a satisfied sip from my warm cup.

I dressed up to go in the snow,

Where I made a great snowball to throw.

I met up with my friends in the park,

And we looked at a piece of frosted tree bark.

I watched a man using a snowplow,

I knew this was the snow day’s final bow.

I frowned as I thought, “How these days come and go so cruel.”

I knew then I’d have to go back to school.

Oh, snow day, why do I have to leave my snowy den,

Oh, snow day, oh snow day, please come back again!
