Sheffield woman faces jail time for theft

A Sheffield woman has been sentenced to jail time after pleading guilty earlier this year to financially exploiting a senior citizen under her care at the Ruth M. Smith Center. Alicia M. Ordiway was charged by Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police with financial exploitation of an older adult or care-dependent person, theft and access device fraud, all third-degree felonies. Chautauqua County man charged with poisoning dogs

NORTH HARMONY, N.Y. — A town man is facing a number of cruelty to animals charges after 10 dogs were poisoned. At 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, sheriff’s deputies and the Chautauqua County Humane Society responded to an address on Route 394 for a report of animal abuse and neglect filed through the Humane Society. Once deputies arrived on the scene, they spoke with Scott Humble, 64, who was the owner of the dogs on the property. Sheffield man sentenced to at least 20 years in prison

A Sheffield man has been sentenced to between 21 and 46 years in prison after pleading guilty to 10 counts of second-degree child pornography. John R. Castor was charged in 2024 with 25 counts of child pornography as well as a single count of criminal use of a communications facility. He pleaded guilty in June to 10 counts of child pornography, with the rest not prosecuted, and was sentenced this week by Judge Gregory Hammond in the Court of Common Pleas. Clarendon man jailed after incident at Walmart

A Clarendon man was jailed after allegedly trespassing and resisting arrest Monday at Walmart. James A. Frederick, 63, was charged with misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, defiant trespass, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief on one docket and with misdemeanor harassment on a second docket, both involving incidents stemming from the Walmart store in Conewango Township.
