Preliminary hearings held in court
One guilty plea was entered, charges were withdrawn against four while one was held for court during preliminary hearings held this week.
Herbert F. Schumann, Sr., 63, Clarendon, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a vehicle without required financial responsibility while charges of possession of marijuana, period for requiring lighted lamps and notice of change of name or address were withdrawn.
Charges were withdrawn against the following:
¯ Andrew P. Nicholson, 35, Warren. Nicholson had been charged with simple assault. A count of harassment was re-categorized as a non-traffic offense.
¯ Daniel J. Smiley, 46. Smiley had been charged with theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief — damage property.
¯ Rodney P. Turner, 56, Warren. Turner had been charged with driving license suspended DUI related — third or subsequent offense. A count of driving while operating privilege suspended or revoked was re-categorized as a traffic offense.
¯ Ashley C. Vincent, 29, Clarendon. Vincent had been charged with simple assault and harassment. A count of defiant trespass was re-categorized as a non-traffic offense.
¯ Kevin J. Powers, 33, Warren, was held for court. Powers has been charged with resisting arrest, two counts of disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and criminal mischief — damage property.
