Warren library announces February events

The Warren Public Library has several upcoming events for community members of all ages. Trivia Night will take place on Thursday, Feb. 12. Adults and teens in grades nine and up are invited to participate. Teams may include up to six members and must register in advance through the Warren Public Library website. Doors open at 5:45 pm, with trivia beginning at 6 pm. On Tuesday, Feb. 17, therapy dogs will visit the library from 6:30 to 7 pm. Outdoor Club To Hike, Ski At Audubon On Sunday, Feb. 1, members of the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike or cross-country ski at the Audubon Community Nature Center trails near Jamestown. ‘Caching’ when times are lean

Winter is in full swing, but despite the cold and snow there are still animals that are active. Lately when I arrive at Audubon Community Nature Center in the mornings, I’ve been looking out the large window at the bird feeders. As I watch the birds and squirrels, I notice some of them collect food and carry it away instead of eating it on the spot. In some cases, animals will collect and store extra food, saving it for later or times of scarcity.
