First Lutheran speaker series continues

The first session of the season’s educational speaker series titled, “Welcome: Creating Space for All,” will take place at First Lutheran Church on Monday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m.

Kristine Johnson Whitaker will be leading the talk, “Room for All: Welcoming Refugees and Immigrants,” which will explore how immigration has shaped American life, both at the country’s beginning, and now. Due to current events, immigration has been the center of much debate. This session aims to discuss Biblical references to immigrants and refugees, the importance of cultural diversity, and leave the audience with ideas for how to foster an open society that promotes creativity, innovation, and economic growth.

Whitaker is a Warren native, holds degrees from Houghton College and Jamestown Community College, and has experience in education and elderly care. She is active in the Penn State Master Gardeners, New Warren Garden Club, and the Warren Parks Commission.

For the past three years, the educational series has taken place throughout the school year with a session in the fall, winter, and spring.

Starting at $3.50/week.
