Zonta Club awards scholarships

The Warren Zonta Club has awarded several scholarships to students pursuing their education

Those receiving scholarships are Shalynn Barbera, Christina Bingman, Darrion Craig and Wyatt Lookenhouse. Scholarships up to $1,000 are awarded to use for tuition or to otherwise support their education.

Shalynn recently graduated from Warren Area High School and will be attending WVU Honors College. While at WAHS, she volunteered at the Toy shop, YMCA, St. Joes Soup Kitchen, and Warren General Hospital. During high school Shalynn has attended medical summer camps and job shadowed a pharmacist at the Cancer Center to explore and prepare for her career path. Her goal is to complete medical school and become an oncologist.

Christina Bingman of Grand Valley, is a wife and mother of three while also studying at the University of Phoenix. Bingman is in her final year and is working toward a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences.She has been on the Dean’s List every semester. When not studying, Bingman is on subcommittees for WarrenWorx, she taught a gardening class at Women are Wonderful and is a substitute teacher at WCCS. Her career goals include environmental conservation, agriculture and education.

Darrion Craig of Tidioute recently graduated from Tidioute Community Charter School and will attend Slippery Rock University. His course of study will be in secondary education with English as his major. He is passionate about teaching.While in high school, Darrion participated in SADD, drama, Envirothon and was vice president of the book club. Darrion’s goal is to become a secondary educator in the English field.

Wyatt Lookenhouse of Russell is a 2023 graduate of Eisenhower High School who will attend Slippery Rock University. Wyatt recently received his associate’s degree in business administration from Jamestown Community College. He plans to attend Slippery Rock to continue his education in the field of criminology. While in high school he played football and basketball and is an avid hunter. During his time at JCC, Wyatt not only worked part-time to help with his educational expenses but also volunteered for the Jamestown Jackals and events at JCC. His goal is to become a Pennsylvania State Trooper, with a goal to become a homicide detective.
