Bill Kuppinger and Sharon Rissel were first on Monday at the YMCA with My Ignatius and Carol Stone in second. Audrey Cable was first with Phyllis Broadbent second on Tuesday at the Allegheny Community Center. Marge Polito was first and Jo Simonsen second on Thursday at the Woman’s Club. Sue Swab was first and Alice Kellogg was second on Friday at the Conewango Club.

centers closed

PennDOT has announced that all driver license and photo centers will be closed Sat., Oct. 12 through Monday, Oct. 14 in observance of Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

Blood drive

A blood drive will be held on Oct. 15 from noon to 5:30 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Church. Call (814) 596-3395 to make an appointment. Appointments are encouraged but are not required. Walk-ins will be taken as space allows.

Elk Township Historical

Society has final open

house Saturday

SCANDIA – The Elk Township Historical Society will host its final museum open house of the year from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the former Scandia School, located at the four corners in Scandia. The museum has information for those searching for relatives who may have lived in Elk Township, 100 years of school enrollment records, notebooks of early families living in Elk Township and catalogs of area cemeteries with photos of gravestones. The museum also has household items from early Elk Township with tour guides on hand to answer questions. There are also local history books available for a donation written by local historian, Dr. Julie Boozer. The museum is free and all are welcome.
