“It’s a Reading PAW-ty” Gus, the YES therapy dog, brought two more of his furry friends to Youngsville Library’s “Barks & Books” (aka Read to a dog) program on Tuesday. Kids had the opportunity to read to the dogs as well as learn facts about therapy dogs and other therapy animals like therapy pigs! Kids also left with free summer snacks and some dog-themed goodies too.

Job Fair @ YPL: Monday, August 19th from 10 am – 1:00 pm there will be a JOB FAIR located at the Youngsville Public Library. The Job Fair is being presented by Infinity Resources and PA Careerlink. There are multiple job openings with a diverse group of manufacturing facilities and institutional housekeeping. Temp-to-hire positions. Immediate openings.
Infinity Resources also offers free transportation to some of the jobs being offered at this Job Fair. Training is available and there are immediate openings. PA Careerlink will also be there to assist with resume writing or other job-related needs. This is a great Job Fair for anyone who is new to the job-market or for those who wish to explore what training opportunities are available.
MISCELLANEOUS NEWS
(a) Neighbor Day: Save the Date- Saturday, August 17th from 11:30 am – 6:00 pm will be a “Neighbor Day” event sponsored by Pittsfield Otterbein GMC, located at the Church parking lot at 258 Dalrymple Street, Pittsfield. This will be a fun, free, family friendly event that will include: music, children’s games, picnic food, giveaways, and more. Bring your family and bring your neighbors and be ready to have some fun.
“Can’t burst our bubbles @ YPL”: On Wednesday, kids had the opportunity to attend Youngsville Library’s STEM-ulating Stories program to learn about surface tension, displacement, chemical bonds, why high humidity days are best for bubble making, and more via bubbles both small and large (as pictured). Kids also had the opportunity to create and experiment by making their own bubble wands with various objects, such as pipe cleaners, straws, and string. At the end of the program, kids were able to take some bubble solution home with them as well as free summer snacks and a worksheet to reflect on their bubble experience. This was the last STEM-ulating Stories program for the summer.
(b) Thursday Bingo: Weekly “Bar-Bingo” night is each Thursday at the Youngsville American Legion (10 N. Main St). Bingo starts at 6 pm, Kitchen now opens at 4:30 pm on Thursdays. No smoking allowed at Youngsville American Legion from 5 pm – 9 pm on these weekly Bar-Bingo nights. Bar-bingo is a formal term for this weekly fundraising event and is not intended to imply that bingo participants are required to sit near or at the Legion bar area.
(c) Free Warren County Tales: On Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 6 pm, there will be an evening of storytelling of Warren County Tales. William DeVlieger, author of “Wendigo War” will be presenting various tales about Algonquian folklore and more. Location is the Wilder Museum of Warren County History (51 Erie Avenue, Irvine). Bring a chair and a friend. This event is free and open to the public.
“YPL Storytime @ WCFair”: Stories, songs, snacks & silliness – all spell F-U-N on Tuesday, August 6th at the WCFair when Youngsville Library performs their Annual WCF “Story Time Day.” The location is the Gazebo near the Cornplanter building/KeyBank Pavilion at 11:00 am. This is a FREE program that offers fun family entertainment for all ages. Be prepared to enjoy some interactive -and corny- fun! Shown is Library Director Kristy Wallace and others demonstrating their best and scariest spider-stance during last year’s program. Kids who attend will receive the following for free: snacks, goody bag filled with color pages, grab-bag items, and more. Hope to see you at the Fair on the 6th.
