Closures

All senior centers in Warren and Forest counties will be closed on Dec. 22, Dec. 25 and Dec. 26 for the Christmas holiday.

The Allegheny Community Center recently received a new phone system and the number (814) 723-3237 is no longer valid. The correct number for the ACC is (814) 723-4180.

Members of the Care Council met at the Marienville Public Library to share information with families raising a different generation. The program is an ongoing initiative funded by a Pa. LINK grant. Presenters were Lisa Barnelli and Alex Massdam from Kinship Bridge, Danell Sowers Director of Experience, Inc., and Library Director Jackie McLaughlin.

Art classes

The Allegheny Community Center in Warren continues to run a 5-week acrylic painting each Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $20 for the program. Watercolor classes are also held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. each Monday. Call the ACC to reserve a place.

Cultural Cooking Class

Anyone that would be interested in coming in and sharing a family recipe with a group of individuals that enjoy doing the same is asked to call the ACC.

Care to Knit

The ACC is accepting donations of yard for the Care to Knit group which will be busy this winter knitting and crocheting blankets and shawls for those who need them.

Out & About

The next “Out & About” event will take participants around Warren to see Christmas lights and include a stop at the Plaza restaurant. The event is set for Dec. 13. The buses fill up fast so those interested are asked to call the ACC and make a reservation.

Food pantries

The ACC has compiled a list of all the places where people in need of food can go in Warren and Forest counties. Call the ACC or email kwilson@experienceinc.org to get the list.

VITA Tax program

The VITA tax program allows individuals to have their taxes and rent rebates completed for free. The program is open to people who make less than $60,000 per year. The ACC will provide all materials needed to submit taxes beginning on Jan. 29. Packets of information are available. The service is provided to the entire community as long as the income guideline is met.

Allegheny

Greenhouse

The Allegheny Greenhouse is already making plans for 2024 and is always looking for volunteers. The greenhouse is giving back $11,000 to local non-profits as a result of operations in 2023. Anyone looking to get involved is asked to call the ACC.
