LIBRARY NEWS

¯ Halloween Storytime: There will be a special Halloween-themed story time at the Youngsville Public Library on Tuesday, October 31st from 10:30 am – 11:00 am. No registration needed, just stop by and enjoy the not-too-scary fun. Target audience is ages 3-6 but all are welcome.

¯ Free iPhone/computer help: Wednesday, October 18th from 5:00 – 6:00 pm, Youngsville Library offers free one-on-one assistance with your iPhone, tablet, android, laptop, and other computer/electronics questions. No appointment necessary, walk-ins are welcome. “Wi-fi Wednesdays” happen the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 5 pm – 6 pm at the Youngsville Library. This is a very casual, open question and answer time period for everyone from beginner to advanced. Have questions about how to remove, add, or edit photos? This the place for you. Maybe you’re unsure of how to tag emails or how to add your email account to your cell phone. Is your phone running slow? Do you need help deleting your search history? Would you like to delete or add phone apps? Personalized one-on-one questions like these can be addressed at each monthly “Wi-Fi Wednesday!” Please remember to bring your (fully charged) electronic device (phone, tablet, etc.) as well as associated passwords (such as your email password, apple account password, etc. if needed).

BOROUGH NEWS

¯ Boro Leaf Request: The Boro is requesting that all residents, business owners, etc. please help assist PWD by removing any leaves, debris, etc. that you may see collecting up around the Boro area storm drains. The Boro thanks you in advance for your cooperation and assistance in trying to help PWD to prevent any flooding that may occur from potential storms.

¯ Cemetery Decorations: The Youngsville Cemetery Association would like to remind everyone to please remove all summer decorations by Sunday, October 15th. They would also like to ask for any volunteer help to assist with the fall cemetery clean-up. Please contact Randy McKinney 814-563-9904 if interested in volunteering some of your time.

¯ Leaf Pickup: Reminder that Yngs Boro Leaf Pick-up schedule starts on Monday, October 16th. Do not rake leaves into the street, this can cause storm drain blockage issues. Also please do not rake stones into the leaves piles. Bundle branches and pile them separately. Thank you. Full leaf schedule can be found on the Boro’s Facebook page. Questions 814-563-4604.

¯ Drug Take-Back: On Saturday, October 28th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, the 25th National Take Back Initiative will be held at the Youngsville Borough Building. The purpose of this initiative is to provide an opportunity for the public to safely dispose of potentially dangerous controlled substances and other pharmaceuticals. MISCELLANEOUS NEWS

¯ Giftshop Open House: ON Monday, November 6th from 8:00 am -3:00 pm, there will be an open house at the Window Box Gift Shop located at Warren General Hospital. There are many new and unique Thanksgiving and Christmas items available for all ages. At the open house there will be Christmas trees, Santas, ornaments, snowmen, books, gingerbread items, angels, penguins, lanterns, gnomes, signs, baby clothing and much more. During the open house on November 6th, 20% off Christmas dÈcor. There will also be Wind & Willow dips and cheeseballs available for you to sample, enjoy, and buy on Nov. 6th. Great chance to get your Christmas shopping done early.

¯ Polish Dinner Fundraiser: Polish Dinner at St. Luke Church in Youngsville (420 N. Main St) on Sunday, Oct 22nd from Noon – 3 pm. Take-outs Only. Get your ticket in advance at St. Joseph parish office or St. Luke church on Sundays after the 8 am mass. Advance tickets also available at the Youngsville Public Library circulation desk (Mon & Wed 10am – 6 pm, Tues. 10 am – 3 pm, & Fri. 11 am – 4 pm). Cost is only $15.00 per takeout dinner. Dinner includes: 2 cabbage rolls, 3 pierogi, a scoop of kluski casserole and a slice of nut roll. Dinner pick-up is behind St. Luke Church in the parking area, just follow the signs, present your ticket(s) to the volunteers and they will bring the meal(s) to you in your vehicle.

¯ Church Luncheon cancelled: The Outreach Luncheon at the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church schedule for Wednesday, October 18th has been cancelled.

¯ Senior Expo: Friday, October 27th from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm there will be a Senior Expo 2023 located at the Youngsville Fire Department presented by the Care Council for Warren and Forest Counties. There will be lots of local vendors providing services or programs that are significant to seniors. Prizes, Basket Raffles, and Giveaways too. Special thank you to the Youngsville Fire Dept, and our many sponsors and the vendors for helping to make this event a success.

HALLOWEEN EVENTS:

¯ Saturday, October 18th from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, the Pittsfield Otterbein Global Methodist Church (258 Dalrymple Street) is hosting a Trunk or Treat event for children. Be sure to dress in costume. Questions: 814-563-3333.

¯ Tuesday, October 31st from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Youngsville Borough Trick or Treat hours. A Halloween Kids Party will also be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Youngsville Fire Department. Marty’s Bubblegum Machine and Costume Contest at this event.

¯ Tuesday, October 31st from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Yngs Free Methodist Church’s Indoor Trunk or Treat. A free family event. Come in costume and go trick or treating indoors. Food, games, candy, and prizes. Visit ybfree.org for more upcoming events.

¯ Haunted house & trolley tours: Friday & Saturday, October 20th & 21st the Warren county Historical Society is hosting it’s annual Haunted House & Trolley Tours from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm each night. Advance ticket purchases are encouraged as Trolley seating is limited and tickets usually sell out prior to the event. Trolley tickets include the Haunted House ($11 per person advance sales and $13 per person at the door, if available). Haunted House tickets are $5 per person (at the door) and do not include the trolley ride. Advance Trolley/Haunted House Tickets can be purchased at the Warren County Historical Society or online at www.warrenhistory.org. Apple cider and cookies will be provided too.
