Students compete in essay contest

Students at Beaty-Warren Middle School competed in the recent American Legion Post 135 Auxiliary essay contest.

Each student wrote an essay answering the following question: “How can we address the health and well-being of our veterans, military, and their families?”

There were two categories of competitors at the middle level — Class II (fifth and sixth grades) and Class III (seventh and eighth grades).

The middle level winners were Class II — Hayden Schuler (first place); Nathan Klenowski (second place); Broc Bryan (third place); and Class III — Madison McDunn (first place); Jacob Hartzell (second place); and Elissa Errett (third place).

Students were supported by teachers Maggie Brown, Lori Maloy, and Amy Kuppertz, received certificates and cash prizes.

The competition was open to students in grades three through 12 in the Warren County School District central attendance area.
