LIBRARY NEWS

Special Hours For WarrenGives Day: Since the very first year of WarrenGives day of giving event, Youngsville Library has offered free one-on-one computer assistance to any resident who might need help making a secure on-line donation to WarrenGives and this year is no exception. On Wednesday, Friends of the Youngsville Library will be available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. to guide people through the online WarrenGives donation process on the library’s public access computers. No appointments are necessary. A quick link to WarrenGives.org, a link to the “Day of Reminder Email” feature, WarrenGives FAQ page, and more information can be found on YPLibrary’s homepage.

The Youngsville Public Library is eligible for WarrenGives on May 19. WarrenGives is a major and far-reaching fundraising opportunity for the library, especially since its fundraising ability has been heavily curtailed due to COVID restrictions/regulations and because the library has experienced significant loses in fundraising revenue within the past year. Youngsville Library’s goal is to raise at least $15,000 through WarrenGives this year to help offset increases in our program outreach costs, increased virtual programming offerings, and other general operational needs. Donors who donate to Youngsville Public Library on Wednesday at WarrenGives.org will help the library recieve an additional 10% over and above the original donation thanks to the Community Foundation of Warren County and other organizations who contribute to a percentage-match pool.

Warren Gives is an all Warren County day of giving event hosted by the Community Foundation of Warren County. The event is a special day of giving with goals of awareness and appreciation for community non-profits, and to encourage new giving to those worth organizations. Organizations will receive 100% of donations made at www.warrengives.org during the specified 16-hour time period from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will also receive a prorated portion of the sponsored match pool. The minimum on-line contribution is $10 and donors may give to up to 10 organizations per transactions. There is no limit to the number of transactions or the amount of money donors may give, however only the first $1,000 given per organization will be eligible for the percentage match.

CHAPMAN STATE PARK- FREE EVENTS

Project WILD Educator Workshop: Held Thursdays, June 24 and July 1 from 9 to 11:15 a.m., the workshops are hosted by educators from Bald Eagle, Chapman and Hills Creek state parks. Virtual Project WILD workshops provide wildlife-based environmental education activities. The program teaches the fundamentals of wildlife ecology while developing ecological values and critical thinking skills. Workshop participants will be introduced to activities that focus on Pennsylvania-specific wildlife and habitat, and receive a large collection of ready-to-use classroom and outdoor activities. Activities will help educators to incorporate an environmental focus in science, math, language arts, music, art and more. Designed to complement existing curricula rather than displace or add more concepts, Project WILD activities address Pennsylvania state and national education standards. The workshops are held virtually through Microsoft Teams and are open to all kindergarten through 12th grade teachers. Free 5 Act 48 hours are available. Registration is suggested by Thursday, June 17, and is limited to 12 participants. Register by contacting Environmental Education Specialist Jen Moore at jennmoore@pa.gov or 814-723-0259. In Pennsylvania, Project WILD is sponsored by DCNR-PA State Parks.
