Philomel clubs host annual performance

The Little Bach/Jr. Philomel clubs recently held its annual performance at the First United Methodist Church for family members.

Pieces this year performed included solos, duets and self-composed pieces on the piano.

Logan Johnson performed Waltz in A Minor (Chopin), Danse MacCabre (Saint-Saens) and Beetle Juice (Elfman). Joseph Miller performed New World Symphony (Dvorak) and Diamonds on the Water (Rossi). Colin Drayer performed Toccata in D Minor (Bach) and Watch My Fingers Rock (Burson). Derek Hahn performed Dance of the Wind (Brown) and Waltz in Bflat (Schubert). Sydney Johnson performed Ecossaise in G (Beethoven). Anne Lin playing Soldier’s March (Schumann) and Medieval Fair (Faber) followed by Cricket Branstrom performing Moonlit Night (Yuki). Jason Bonavita performed Solfeggio in C Minor (CPE Bach) and a self-composed piece Synthesis.

Duets were performed by Derek and Colin (Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart), Sydney and Mrs. Peterson (Yankee Doodle Variations by Vandell), Anne and Mrs. Finger (The Entertainer by Joplin) and Jason with Mrs. Peterson (Ostinato Barbaro by Vandell).

Piano instructors are Vera Finger and Cathy Peterson.

Little Bach is for those in grades 6-9 and Jr Philomel is for those in grades 10-12.
