‘It’s A Sugar Grove Christmas’ canceled
An increase in COVID-19 cases in Warren County has led to the cancellation of a Sugar Grove Christmas.
COVID-19’s presence in northern Warren County has brought down a public event.
There will be no hay ride, no live performances, no fireworks, no hot chocolate and cookies, and no pre-Christmas visits with Santa.
“‘It’s a Sugar Grove Christmas,’ scheduled for Dec. 11, has been canceled due to the huge increase in COVID-19 cases rearing up its head in our bubble,” according to a Wednesday release from the event committee.
As Warren County has seen a surge in cases, Sugar Grove has been one of many areas to see dramatic increases.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 22 cases in the Sugar Grove zip code as of Wednesday. That number has doubled since Wednesday, Nov. 25, when there were 11 cases.
“We care about our community, friends, neighbors, and loved ones, and have taken a lot of things into consideration before making this difficult decision to cancel this event that everyone was so looking forward to get out and enjoy,” according to the release. “Sugar Grove prays for a Christmas that is merry and a healthy, happier 2021.”
