Warren/Forest Senior Center Reopening

Information

Experience Inc., the Area Agency on Aging, will open area senior centers, except for the Tidioute Senior Center, using safe social distancing policies effective the week of June 8.

Hours of operation to the public

Centers will have limited hours to the public so that staff may clean the facilities. Hours will be: Allegheny Community Center, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Marienville, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Tidioute, closed except for lunch take-outs; Endeavor, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

How many people can be in the senior center at any one time

¯ It will be determined how many individuals can safely fit into our senior centers and practice social distancing for reopening. Each center will be different depending on the square footage — 30% capacity, using 6 feet spacing for tables, spaced lines for lunch, etc.

¯ Tables and chairs will be spaced appropriately to maintain social distancing, they may not be moved.

¯ Reservations will be required until further notice.

¯ Two people allowed in the restrooms at one time.

Staff and Participant Screening and Safety

¯ Every day both center staff and participants will be required to consent to a temperature reading and may or may not be granted entry based on the results. Those with readings over 100 degrees Fahrenheit will not be permitted to enter. If someone appears ill (staff included), you can take their temperature. Or if they are coughing or otherwise appear ill, we will have to ask them to leave and not to return until they are better.

¯ Waiver: consumers must sign an Assumption of the Risk and Waiver of Liability relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19 when they attend a center for the first time.

¯ Health screening: consumers must also fill out a health screening form when they return to a center the first time.

¯ All individuals entering senior centers must wear a mask unless they have a medical condition prohibiting its use. Those who do not have a mask will have one provided.

¯ Hand washing: consumers must wash their hands upon arrival, before lunch and when they leave the center. Hand sanitizer will be available for consumers.

¯ No physical contact of any kind amongst consumers, volunteers and staff is permitted.

Consumers are not permitted to move and tables or chairs in any area of the facility. Signs will be posted prominently throughout the facility.

Lunch

Centers will resume their congregate lunch service in June using the following guidelines:

¯ Disposable paper products will be utilized for all lunch service.

¯ Single-use beverage containers, like bottles of water, or water or coffee poured by staff using gloves will be utilized.

¯ People may take their lunches home in take-out containers if they are not comfortable eating in a communal setting.

¯ Consumers can bring in their own lunches and beverages but can’t share with anyone, nor are they allowed to bring in food, such as desserts, to share.

¯ Consumers will be called up one table at a time to retrieve their meal; social distance indicators outlined on the floor.

¯ Congregate meal availability will be determined on the same basis as described under “How many people can be in the senior center at any one time.’ Each center will be different in how many people they accommodate according to their space.

¯ No consumer is allowed to save seats for other people.
