‘Beating the Winter Blahs’; Singer, author travels to guest

www.barbaramcafee.com Barbara McAfee

First Presbyterian Church is delighted to introduce Barbara McAfee to our wonderful community as this year’s special “Beating the Winter Blahs” guest.

Barbara hails from Minneapolis, Min., where she lives across from the Mississippi River. She is a singer, songwriter, vocal coach, and community builder. Barbara has been featured in two TEDx talks, is the author of the book Full Voice; The Art and Practice of Vocal Presence, and has released eight CDs. She has two primary passions in life: music and community. More about Barbara may be found on her website at www.barbaramcafee.com.

McAfee will offer her energy and talent on Saturday, Feb. 8, with a workshop on threshold or bedside singing (often associated with hospice) at 4 p.m. and then through a “Spirit of YES!” concert featuring her original music at 7 p.m. There is no charge for the workshop; tickets for the concert range from $10 to $20.

On Sunday, Feb. 9, Barbara will energize morning worship at 10 a.m. with a theme of “All Together Now!” and will later lead a community sing-along at 4 p.m.

Donations will be received at the sing-along to benefit Relay for Life and no musical ability is needed to participate. The community sing-along will be held in Founders Hall at First United Methodist Church, 200 Market Street; all other events will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 300 Market Street. Call 723-9200 for more information.
