Community dinner

A community dinner  will be held on Wednesday, February 8 at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church. The menu will include pulled pork, scalloped potatoes, corn and dessert. The meal is set to start at 5 p.m.

ReStore

Habitat for Humanity of Warren County’s ReStore is operating from the basement of Second Avenue Exchange, located at 306 Second Avenue in Warren. Habitat will accept donations at that location only on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month from 10am to noon. The next dropoff dates are February 11 and 25. Please do not leave items outside of those hours. Habitat reserves the right to deny any item based on its potential resale value and/or usefulness to the organization. Bridge results

Results of duplicate bridge for Monday at the YMCA were Mary Conarro and Janet Templeton with 45, My Ignatius and Emily Birgel with 43 and Carolyn Lake and Joyce Hill with 41.5.

At the Allegeny Community Center, Marjorie Polito was first followed by Rosemary Hanson.  Thursday afternoon at the Woman’s Club, Donna Holding and Tana Fegely were first and second.   Thursday evening at the library, Donna Holding placed first and Rosemary Hanson came in second.

AOC events

On Wednesday, Feb. 8, the Allegheny Outdoor Club (AOC) will ski or hike the Summit Area at Allegany State Park. Participants should bring skis/and or hiking boots, water, and a lunch and meet at the Summit Area at 10:00 a.m. For more information call Pat Spicer at (814) 757-8331. On Sunday, Feb. 12, the AOC will hike a section of the Tanbark Trail. Participants will meet at Musante Street at 1:00 p.m. A Boys Scout Troop will hike with us. ACA news

The Allegheny Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the winners for the January page of ACA / WCCBI ” Warren County Wonders” for 2018. There were 10 photographers entering the contest and 23 photos were submitted. Katherine Bowley won first place for “Ice Lace at Buckaloons.” Brandi Kophazy placed second for “Conservation District Pond.” Carl Leichtenberger gained third place for “Hawk Taking Flight.” Photos are now being accepted for Feb. and Dec. Photos may be sent until Feb. 25th. See our website for the rules for the contest. We have great beauty in our county. Have fun trying to capture some of our wonders.

Library program

A Pigeon, A Knuffle Bunny and Some Pizza: Popular children’s author Mo Willem’s beloved Pigeon, Trixie and Knuffle Bunny characters come to life via the reading of stories, a few short movies, and coloring pages at the Warren Public Library on Saturday, February 18, noon till 1:30 p.m. The audience will also enjoy pizza and a few door prizes. Preregistration is appreciated. Registration form is located next to staff computer in the Children’s Department, or leave a message for Children’s Librarian Susan Slater at 723-4650. This PA Forward program is offered in honor of the Knuffle Bunny play at the Library Theatre the following weekend.
