Birthday

Family and friends gathered to celebrate the birthday of Hazel Bull, who turned 103 on Aug. 18. A picnic was held in her honor on Aug. 16 at the home of her daughter, Helen Ward, Pittsfield. Celebrating continued on Hazel’s birthday with family gathering for cake and ice cream at Hazel’s residence at the Rouse Suites. Hazel has five children: Helen Ward of Pittsfield, Mary Shannon of Corry, Frank Bull of Clymer, N.Y., Ardeth Smackey of Bethlehem, Pa., and the late Robert Bull. She also has 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Family came from as far as Idaho to celebrate Hazel’s special day.

Birthday

Mary Laurich celebrated her 100th birthday on Aug. 25, 2015. She has lived in Warren since moving from Cleveland in 1946 and was married for 59 years to Stephen Laurich, who passed away in 2000. Laurich has seven children, nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild soon to be born. The entire extended family came home to celebrate on August 22 at the Woman’s Club. Laurich still lives in the home where the children were raised, along with her son Jon and his wife Shelly. She enjoys her little dog, Gigi, watching birds in the garden, and phone calls and letters from her family.
