8,234 POUNDS of food donated

Warren County School District (WCSD) students are the ultimate winners in this year’s business-to-business challenge. The challenge partners this year included The Rouse Home, Times Observer, and Second Harvest Food Bank. Between the three, they got a total of 17 area businesses on board to collect non-perishable food to be distributed each weekend to those students in the WCSD whose families need extra nutritional help. WCSD talks early budget figures

Warren County School District’s early budget estimates are out. Director of Business Services Jim Grosch presented the ‘rough-cut’ budget to the finance committee at Monday’s meeting. The projected increases to revenues are not matching the projected increases of expenditures. The projections are bleak. In 2020-2021, the district is looking at a shortfall of $3.5 million, then $5.7 million in 2021-2022, $8 million in 2022-2023, and $10.5 million in 2023-2024. City approves CDBG funding application

With no input from the public at Monday’s public hearing, Warren City Council members approved applying for $298,504 in CDBG funds for city projects. Monday was the second required public hearing regarding the Community Development Block Grant funds. Following the hearing, council members gave their unanimous approval to submit the application to the state Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).
