Jamestown Area Soap Box Derby set for Saturday

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The 41st annual Jamestown Area Soap Box Derby will be held Saturday at the John S. Sinatra Track, located outside Russell E. Diethrick Jr. Park. The derby, which will start at 9 a.m., will feature drivers in the Stock, Super Stock and Masters divisions. The winners of each division will qualify for the World Championships in Akron, Ohio, in July. NEWARK, N.Y. — An eight-run fifth inning propelled Jamestown to a 10-6 come-from-behind victory over Newark in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest on Thursday night before 100 fans at Colburn Park. The win, which raised the Tarp Skunks’ record to 4-1, was highlighted by two hits apiece from Blake Herman and Joaquin Rodriguez-Costa (double); a solo home run from James Dixon; and a double and two RBIs from Caleb Jordan.
