Cadets of the Jamestown Civil Air Patrol Composite Squadron NY 402 held an awards ceremony honoring milestone achievements and honors recently. Major Brian Wells, commander of the Western New York group, was in attendance to present the awards. Cadet Zachary Gendron was recognized as a new cadet, receiving his name plate. Several new cadets received the Curry Award, the first major achievement in the cadet promotion program. Cadets must meet leadership, character and readiness standards. The state House on Thursday gave bipartisan approval to revoking a sales tax exemption for equipment for data centers, with one supporter equating the industry frenzy in Pennsylvania to an irresponsible and speculative "gold rush." Democratic Rep. Kyle Mullins of Lackawanna County said his home county has proposals for 16 different data centers.
