¯ Thursday, Nov. 23: Closed for Thanksgiving Day.

¯ Monday, Nov. 27: Burgundy beef with mushrooms, egg noodles, broccoli and carrots, wheat bread and pears.

¯ Tuesday, Nov. 28: Chicken and white bean chili, tossed salad, baked potato, corn drop biscuits and mandarin oranges.

¯ Thursday, Nov. 30: Center cut pork chop with gravy, whipped potatoes, braised cabbage, white bread and apple crisp.

¯ Monday, Dec.4: Chicken alfredo, penne pasta with sauce, Italian green beans, garlic breadstick and cake.

¯ Tuesday, Dec. 5: Pot roast, baked potatoes, sliced carrots, Italian bread and fresh baked cookie.

¯ Thursday, Dec.7: Beef burrito with lettuce, tomato and cheese, warm fiesta corn, Spanish rice, tortilla shell and pineapple.

¯Monday, Dec. 11: Swiss steak, onion gravy, whipped potatoes, lima beans, wheat bread and sliced pears.

¯Tuesday, Dec. 12: Sweet and sour chicken thigh, rice pilaf, oriental vegetables, white bread and pineapple.

¯ Thursday, Dec. 14 will be the Christmas lunch of roasted pork loin with gravy, seasoned redskins, green beans, dinner roll and Christmas dessert.

Please call the center at 484-3020 to sign up at least two days in advance so staff can make sure there is enough food ordered for everyone.

Food Commodity

The next Food Commodity is set for Wednesday, November 22 at Tidioute Towers from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Pick up is in the Community Room. Please enter on the creek side of the building and do not park on the blacktop areas as that is for residents only.

Garbage pick-up

Garbage pick-up this week will be on Friday, Nov. 24 due to Thanksgiving on Thursday.

Social memberships due

Servicemen’s Home Corp is now accepting payments for 2018 membership dues. Make checks payable to Servicemen’s Home Corp.

Servicemen’s Home Corp has tickets on their new gun raffle, a Kimber Stainless Steel 270 CAL Hunter with a Leupold Scope and Polymer Desert Tan stock to be drawn on December 18. Tickets are $2 each.

Bell ringers needed

It is that time of year once again when the Salvation Army sets up bell ringing at the Tidioute Trading Post, Northwest Bank and Evans Market. This year we will be ringing the bell at Buccardo’s Restaurant also.

All proceeds raised here in Tidioute are kept here to help those in need and your support is greatly appreciated.

Signup sheets are available at each location or you can call Mary Donahue at 484-3471 to ring at Evan’s Market on Fridays or Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call Barb Downey at 730-0392 to ring at Northwest Bank on Fridays from 9 a.m. till 5:45 (close early with bank hours) or call Mary Huntington at 484-7766 to ring the bells at Tidioute Trading Post from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. A signup sheet is at Buccardo’s for bell ringers to sign up on for Fridays and Saturdays.

The last day of bell ringing is Saturday, November 25. The paper kettles will remain out until Christmas.

New ambulance needed

Tidioute Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service is in desperate need of a New Ambulance in order to continue serving our community. Please consider helping. Monetary donations can be made payable to: “Tidioute Ambulance Fund” and mailed to Tidioute Fire Dept., P. O. Box 122, Tidioute, PA 16351. You can also go to any Northwest Bank and make a donation to Tidioute Fire Department and tell them it is for the new ambulance, go to their GoFundMe Page at https://www.gofundme.com/tavfd-ambulance-fund or contact Monica Morgan at 730-0021. All donations are tax deductible.

Borough office closed

The Tidioute Borough office will be closed on Nov. 23 and 24 for Thanksgiving.

Community dinner

The Meal Ministry will host a Thanksgiving Day Dinner on November 23 at the Tidioute Firehall from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This is open to all who wish to come and join family and friends for Thanksgiving Dinner. There will be turkey, potatoes, stuffing, gravy, dessert and beverages. You can dine in or eat out and cost is by donations only.

Christmas wreath

lottery raffle

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit of Post 0334 is holding a Christmas wreath lottery raffle. Tickets are available from any of the Auxiliary Unit members, at the local Post and the Tidioute Trading Post. Cost is $2 each and the drawing will be Dec. 16, 2017. This wreath is made up of 25 $1 tickets, 12 $2 tickets, 11 $5 tickets 4 $10 tickets 4 $20 tickets and $76 in cash.

Free smoke detectors

The Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department still has several free smoke detectors. All you have to do is stop at the firehall any Thursday evening between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. or any Sunday morning from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Smoke detectors were donated to the fire department by the Tidioute Lions Club.

Car battery collection

The Tidioute Lions Club is now collecting car and truck batteries at the recycling center. There is a pallet located near the recycling bins where you can put the batteries. There is no charge, just drop them off with your other recycling items.

Fall gun raffle

The Tidioute Area VFD will be hosting their annual fall gun raffle on Saturday, Nov.25. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the games begin at 7 p.m. One gun will be drawn for every 75 tickets sold. A maximum of 750 people will be permitted and children under the age of 18 are only permitted with an adult. Winners will be responsible for background check. If unable to pass, store credit will be given by Tall Tales Sporting Goods. All guns must be picked up within 30 days or they become the property of Tidioute Area VFD. Guns listed include: Stevens 320 Security 12 ga; Ruger 10/22 with truglo 3-9×40; T/C Compass Pkg .223; T/C Compass Pkg 30-06; Ruger American .17HMR with truglo; T/C Venture 7mm-08; Winchester SXP Turkey Hunter 12 ga.; Mossburg Patriot .270 win.; Ruger GP 100 .357 Mag. SST; and a Browning Eclipse Hunter .243 Tickets are $ 10 each and are on sale at Tidioute Trading Post, Buccardo’s Restaurant and from the local firefighters. Tickets were sponsored by Kings Building Supply.

Pajama drive

The Tidioute Community Charter School is taking part in a pajama drive for kids in shelters.

Pelase donate pajamas with the tags on them to Mrs. Buccardo at the school. For every pair we send, Scholastic will also send a book. This program runs from now until December 13th.

VFW Board Meeting

Members of the Board of Directors of Servicemen’s Home Corp/VFW Post 8803 will meet on December 7 at 5 p.m. for their meeting.

December craft show

There will be a craft show at the Tidioute Firehall on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those interested in participating and having a table should contact Laurie at 706-2900. This event is sponsored by the Tidioute Area Vol. Fire Department Auxiliary.

Trap team raffle winners

Tickets were drawn on November 18 at 8 p.m. at the Bear Check station at Tidioute Fire hall. First Place winner of the Ruger M77 Hawkeye Predator 6.5 Creedmoor was Derek Rapp of Titusville, P. and the second place winner of $150 was Rich Litzinger of Pittsfield, Pa. This raffle was conducted by the Tidioute Community Charter School Trap Team and they would like to thank everyone who purchased tickets and supported the team.

Produce Express/Second Harvest

The next Second Harvest/Produce Express in Tidioute will be Saturday, Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon at the firehall. If you have not signed up this year yet you can fill out an application on the Second Harvest website. Please bring two boxes or clothes baskets to carry your food in.
