Dennis L. Howe

Dennis L. Howe

Dennis L. Howe, 69, of Spring Creek, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at home.

Born to the late Bill and Jean Bogert Howe on January 9, 1955, Dennis was a 1972 graduate of Youngsville High School and 1976 graduate of Penn State University. He went on to work as an engineer at Associated Spring of Corry for 42 years. Dennis married Susan Young and they started their 45 year adventure together on August 19, 1978.

Dennis had many interests, truly living his life motto, “work hard, play hard.” A skilled fly fisherman and avid hunter, his favorite days were made of hatches on the water and early morning sunrises from a tree stand. Dennis spent many hours perfecting his golf game and enjoyed being a part of the Maplehurst Country Club golf league with his lifelong friends. His retirement was spent adventuring with his wife, from trips to Iceland and Hawaii to countless hours kayaking and biking in the Florida sun, and Taco Tuesdays with the Blums. Dennis spent his time as a grandpa playing catch, telling stories, and making every event fun. As a father, his unending support and joy of watching his girls thrive was always evident. His patience and guidance as a softball and basketball coach impacted many. Dennis’ loyalty, kindness, and humor were part of every interaction with friends, family, and co-workers.

Dennis’ family includes his wife, Susan; his daughters Lindsey (Josh) Pyle of Charlotte, NC; Jamie (Jason) Hutchings of Media, PA; Crystal Howe of Warren, PA; and Rachel Howe (Spencer) Schrank of Pittsburgh, PA; siblings Cindy (Randy) Bashore of Orlando, FL and Diana (John) Yocina of New Cumberland, WV; grandchildren Emma, Milo, Carter, Hannah Jo, and Madeline. He is also survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bill and Rose Young, of Dunns Eddy, PA, and several nieces and nephews, as well as his Penn State family.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 11 am-1 pm at the Nelson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Youngsville. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with Pastor Todd Venman officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Condolences may be made to the family at nelsonfuneralhome.net. One of Dennis’ greatest passions was fly fishing Kinzua Creek, which was always followed by dinner at Westline. As such, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dennis’ name to Kinzua Valley Trail Club, KVTC 31 CCC Rd, Westline, PA, 16740.
