Debra “Debbie” Weigel

Debra “Debbie” Weigel, 66, Adams Township, Pa., went home to the Lord on Sunday, July 4, 2021, at UPMC Passavant-McCandless. Born April 24, 1955, the daughter of Jack and Frances Cashmere, Debbie graduated in 1973 as valedictorian from Sheffield High School.

Debbie graduated from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, Mass., with a Bachelors of Arts in English, then later earned her teaching certification from Clarion University. She taught English in the Warren County School District for 23 years, spending most of the years at the Warren High School. She very much enjoyed teaching, especially the small, academically challenging AP English classes.

In addition to her parents, Debbie is survived by her husband, Kevin of 46 years; son, Keith and his wife, Stephanie of Arlington, Va.; daughter, Tess and husband, David of Mars, Pa.; three sisters: Julie (Scott) Duell of Barnes, Pa., Jackie (Kevin) Evans of Mt. Airy, Md., and Kay (Randy) Eadie of Russell, Pa.; one brother; Curt Cash-mere of Sheffield, Pa..; four precious grandchildren: Mason, Maddie, Clara and Vivian. Debbie is further survived by numerous sister and brother in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Debbie and Kevin lived and raised their family in Russell, Pa., for over 29 years. After Debbie’s retirement from teaching in 2017, they moved to Mars, Pa., to be closer to their daughter’s family and enjoy their role as grandparents.

Debbie was an avid reader, particularly after retirement when she did not need to be grading English papers. She also loved her flower gardens and was especially partial to daylilies. Debbie loved the summer vacations at the ocean whether it was a large gathering of the Cashmere family or intimate vacations with the children’s families.

Debbie will be missed by so many, but the biggest loss is to the grandchildren who will miss her teachings, thoughtful gifts, devotion, and the warmth of her love.

Debbie’s family will welcome family and friends on Wednesday, July 7, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m .at the Borden Funeral Home of Sheffield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1030 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Sheffield, Pa., with Father Stephen Schrieber as celebrant. Everyone please gather at the church. Burial will follow at the Sheffield Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society or the Warren County Humane Society, 212 Elm St., Warren, PA 16365.
