Bite leads to assault charge
A Warren State Hospital patient has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly biting, spitting on, shoving, punching, and scratching a member of the hospital staff.
Linda J. Welch, 27, is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment.
The charges stem from an alleged June 21 incident.
Police said video footage shows hospital staff trying to control Welch, who “violently thrashed around.”
Police said the victim had a red and bruising bite mark on her bicep and a small cut on her left hand.
The video shows the alleged incident ending after staff administer medication, according to police.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12.
