Limestone property closer to RDA owners

A Limestone Township blighted property appears on a path to ownership by the Warren County Redevelopment Authority.

The subject property is located at 58 Bush Lane and is detailed in county assessment records as owned by Lynda Bush Berenbrok et. al.

But the property was titled to six children as a result of a divorce – possibly without their knowledge.

Last month, the RDA discussed that the children “want nothing to do with it” and were “willing to give it” to the RDA “for nothing.”

Authority member Pam Matve presented a letter signed by each of the six children involved to that effect at Tuesday’s meeting.

“A couple of them don’t even know their names were on it,” she said, telling the RDA that interest in the property has been expressed by other entities.

Matve recommended a lien and title search out of a desire to “want to make sure there are no liens on it before we proceed.”

The county’s 2020 budget proposal includes a $5,000 line item for the RDA to be able to cover costs such as this without utilizing federal Community Development Block Grant funding.

Authority member Phil Gilbert said this “seems like a good opportunity” to utilize such funding.

Authority chairman Charles Barone said it is the “gameplan to get the property in the RDA’s name” and “then we are going to want to sell it or try to sell it.”

Barone said funds from such a sale would be “distributed back to pay the cost of the county” and Matve suggested that funds beyond that total could be “put into an account that we could use.”

“They’re going to sign it over to us,” she said. “This document states that they are willing to sign it over.”

She suggested the project is “kind of on hold until the first of the year” to see if those funds are approved as part of the county’s budget.

“That’s a good sign right there,” Barone said.
