It’s the Superbowl… of the Warren County Fair.
Lance Fiscus’ team was the winner of this year’s Warren County Fair Stock Car Superbowl. This was Fiscus’ second year in a row winning the Superbowl. He and his team came in second two years ago.
Fiscus said he’s been participating in Stock Car Football for the past 13 years. He originally got interested in the sport from being a spectator. “I decided I’d want to give it a try,” he said. That was over a decade ago.
His team includes Tim Garity of Kane and Brion Thomas of Clarendon. Fiscus is also from Clarendon. Fiscus said Saturday before the game that it takes his team around one to two weeks to get their cars stripped and ready to go, and that someone could get into the stock car football game off the street with an investment of a couple of weeks of their time and around $500 to $600 dollars.
The cars themselves cost between $200 and $400, said Fiscus, and while sponsors help with things like paint and other services, there’s another bit of investment on top, including event registration fees. Fiscus said that there were a total of 12 teams with a total of 18 cars registered for Saturday’s event.

For Fiscus, it’s always great to win, but the fun of playing is what keeps him coming year after year. “It’s just fun to wreck stuff,” said Fiscus. He said that while wrecks are fun he also enjoys the strategy of the game.
Stock Car Football finished out the 2018 Warren County Fair.
