New trout limit approved

Pennsylvania anglers will see a new size limit for trout in the 2027 season, but very few will notice a difference. Most Pennsylvania anglers do not remember the last time the trout size limit was changed. That is because it was way back in 1983, when the limit was raised from a minimum size of 6 inches to 7 inches. Now, that minimum size limit was increased from 7 inches to 9 inches at the latest Board of Commissioners’ meeting. New catfish regulation for Ohio basin

Starting Jan. 1, 2027, catfish anglers in the Ohio River basin will face new regulations, at least when it comes to flatheads and blue catfish. The changes were approved at the latest Pennsylvania Board of Commissioners’ meeting. Under the new regulations, flatheads will have a new possession limit of four, with only one fish being 35 inches or longer.
