Hill & Dale Garden Club meets in Oct., nominates officers

The Hill & Dale Garden Club meeting was held on October 23 at the Wiltsie Community Church. Ruth welcomed everyone and led us in the Pledge to the Flag. She thanked the church for having us and, as Veteran’s Day is November 11th, remembered anyone who has served in the military. Darlene was given a gift in recognition of her service and she spoke briefly on her experience in the Army. Fence & shrub heights pondered

City of Warren planning officials continue to discuss fence and shrub height regulations. The Planning Commission met for the first time since June when the issue was last discussed. At issue are height restrictions on fences and shrubs on corner lot properties within the city. City Planner David Hildebrand said the city’s zoning hearing board has fielded three special exception requests - all of which were granted - from individuals who wanted to get a six foot high fence in an area that was considered a front yard, which is limited to four feet. DEP issues promise of forthcoming public info meeting

On Wednesday, Warren County Commissioner Jeff Eggleston said he was confident the Department of Environmental Protection would respond to questions regarding a pending permit renewal. On Thursday, DEP responded with a statement, the announcement of a forthcoming new comment period, and the promise of a public meeting. Fish and Boat Commission moves forward with licensing change

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has taken steps toward removing the display requirement for a fishing licenses. The board met on Monday and, according to a statement, “took steps towards replacing a long-standing regulation that requires anglers to display their fishing license on an outer garment while fishing.” The Commission said that a proposed amendment would replace the display requirement “with a possession requirement, which would require only that an angler carry the license on their person while fishing and present the license to a PFBC law enforcement ...
