ERIE -- The Warren girls volleyball team fell to the Corry Beavers in the District 10 4A volleyball championship at the Hagerty Family Events Center on Tuesday evening. The Beavers were dominant in a 25-12, 25-20, 25-15 sweep.
Corry cruised to a first-set victory. Warren had a 2-0 lead right out of the gates, but the Beavers rattled off eight points in a row and never looked back en route to a dominant win.
The Beavers claimed the second set, but the road was definitely a little rockier. The Dragons managed to take a 16-15 lead after a Corry service error, but the Beavers would go on an 8-4 run to go up 23-20 and put Warren's backs against the wall. A crucial Beavers timeout allowed them to notch the final two points for the set.
The third set was all Corry.
Warren was led by Hailey Cabisca with 10 kills, Brynn Norris made 26 assists and 11 digs, Attie Corey had five kills, Malysia Sorensen collected 14 digs, Lara Pearson scored four kills, Julia Getner had three blocks and two kills, and Brooke Sherry delivered three kills. Those performances helped Sorensen become Warren's all-time leader in digs and Cabisca surpassed the 500 kills benchmark.
Despite the loss, the Dragons’ season will continue tonight as they travel to Clearfield to take on the District 9 champion, the Clearfield Bison.
