WARREN -- The Warren High boys soccer team doubled dipped on Saturday and hosted back-to-back varsity only games and were victorious in both.

At 11 a.m., the Dragons hosted St. Mary's, defeating the Dutchmen 8-0, then took on Corry at 1 p.m. and won 6-1 against the Beavers. Both games featured an impressive display of ball possession from Warren that thwarted any sort of offensive tactics from their opposition.

In the earlier game, the Dragons were deadlocked midway through the first half. It would take just over 20 minutes for Trey Carrington to break the tie, winning a battle just in front of the goal. Then with just over two minutes remaining, Gabe Dougherty earned a penalty kick when fouled in the box. He would convert, putting the Dragons up 2-0 at the half. A heavy attack of three goals in under ten minutes from Mason Warner, Dougherty, and Grant Newton would break open the game with the home team up 5-0.

Warren would tack on three more goals, where Warner, Timmy Giger, and Logan Ristau put the bow on top to send the Dutchmen home. Assists in the victory were from Mason Warner with two, Trey Carrington, Timmy Giger, Reilly Morgan, and Brody Vanguilder. Eddie Abplanalp recorded the shutout in the win.

The Dragons would once again maintain the pace of the game in their 6-1 defeat of Corry. Gabe Dougherty had an impressive four goals in the victory, with Mason Warner and Ashton Carrington each scoring one. Assists in the win were from Trey Carrington, Timmy Giger, Reilly Morgan, Logan Ristau, and Warner.

"I thought we were really good in possession today," Warren head coach Steffen Blair said about the wins. "A lot of that comes from getting more reps and being comfortable in our system, and you can see the chemistry and confidence continuing to grow. The boys were calm on the ball, and that allowed us to control the pace of the game and limit the chances they had going the other way. I'm happy with how we played with urgency without panicking, and how we were creative and progressive without forcing things. That's something we want to keep building on."

The Dragons head to Oil City on Tuesday to take on the Oilers at 6:30 p.m.
