A pair of former college golf teammates competed at the United States Amateur Four-Ball Qualifier at Westmoreland Country Club in Export on Tuesday. Nate Sandberg of Warren and Mitch Faulkner of Bradford shot a team score of 1-under 70 to place 21st out of 48 teams. Only the top two teams qualified. "We went against some of the top talent in the Pittsburgh area and beyond," said Sandberg, who is the Warren Area High School boys golf coach. "I felt Mitch and I held our own, for the most part. We made some great birdies, but both bogeyed a few of the same holes which cost us big time." The winners were Kevin Fajt and Darin Kowalski with an impressive 8-under 63. The top-two qualifying teams earned a spot at the 2027 USGA Amateur Four-Ball competition, which will be held at Erin Hills in Erin, Wis. Erin Hills was the site of the 2017 men's US Open.
