WARREN -- The Warren girls volleyball team swept the Titusville Rockets on Thursday evening 25-10, 25-14, 25-16 in Region 4 play at Warren Area High School.
It was a pink-out in the gymnasium as the Dragons all wore pink in the victory to help spread awareness for breast cancer research.
Reaching double-digit kills on the night were Hailey Cabisca with 13 and Lara Pearson at 12. Brynn Norris had an impressive outing, reaching 23 assists, three kills and 10 digs, with Malysia Sorensen recording nine digs. Attie Corey had seven kills and two blocks; Paiden Johnson had three aces; and Julia Getner notched four kills.
Brooke Sherry's two kills and two aces, as well as Michaela Dolan's 12 assists were all part of the team effort to earn the sweep.
“I can’t say enough how much we appreciate all the people who came out tonight for our annual pink-out game in support of a former player, as she undergoes treatment for cancer,” Warren head coach Mike Dolan said. “Fans and members of the community came together and showed their love and support and it was very heartwarming. And it the team played a good all-around match to get an important region win.”
Warren jayvee defeated Titusville 25-13, 21-25, 15-12.
Lexi Nuhfer had 16 assists, four aces and three digs; Kendall Skerda had five kills, 14 digs and two aces; Kelsey Johnson had six digs, three kills and two aces; Luci Salvatore had six kills and five digs; Alice Pearson had two aces; Monica Malczyk had three digs; Taylor Swanson had four kills and two blocks; and Marie Malczyk had four kills and two digs.
Warren heads to Slippery Rock on Tuesday to take on the Rockets for a 6 p.m. junior varsity start with varsity to follow.
