STATE COLLEGE -- Warren senior Kate Shippee finished out her high school golf career with a 34th-place finish at the PIAA Championships held Monday and Tuesday.

The AAA Championship was played on the White Course at Penn State and utilized the white tees for the championship rounds, which were played at 6,130 yards, making it the longest course Shippee has seen in her career.

Shippee shot a 93 on the first day and then followed it up with an 86 for a two-day total of 179.

"The white course has a lot of sand bunkers, both by the green and the fairways, which made getting up and down for par difficult when finding them," Warren girls head coach Scott Pearson said. "There were 36 girls in AAA representing all of the Districts in Pennsylvania competing for the right to be named state champion and the kids at this tournament are some of the best golfers in the state. Shippee can say that she was a part of that exclusive group.

"As a four-time District 10 individual qualifier, Kate had many accolades such as being a runner up district champion, five-time invitational award winner, three-time medalist in mega matches, and a second place finish overall low gross in the mega matches. Kate has had a great season and great high school career, and she is a fantastic example of how hard work and dedication pays off. She will be missed next season."

The AAA state champion was Bryn Krosse of Dallastown with a two-day total of 1-under par followed by Alaina Carson of Cardinal O'Hara with 1-over-par.
