RUSSELL -- The Warren boys and girls cross country team traveled to Eisenhower on Wednesday to take on the Knights.

"It was a perfect fall day for a cross-country race," said Warren head coach Michelle Johnson. "The Eisenhower course is a fun one for our kids to run."

Added Knights head coach Darlene Beach: "I was very proud of the kids today, both varsity and junior high. We had a lot of strong performances and personal-best times on the course."

Warren freshman Nina Woldt paced the varsity girls race with a time of 21:11, followed by Eisenhower freshman Josie Elms in second with a time of 22:49. Coming in third were Izzy Grosch, Emma Peterson, Haley Ferrie and Addyson Britt.

"Emma was sick today, and had to stop for a little bit mid-race," Johnson said, "but was able to muster up enough to finish the race."

In varsity boys action, Warren narrowly came out with a win, edging the Knights 27-30. Warren had the first three runners to cross the finish line, paced by Cole Fitzgerald's 17:48, followed by Leyton Salvatore's 17:50, then Grayson Collopy's 15:52. Eisenhower then claimed the next six spots, with Mason Britt (18:33), Parker McBride (18:52), Cam Lindell (18:58), Alex Lund (19:09), and Joseph Fanelli (19:32) being the point-getters for the Knights. Mason Smith (20:02) came in 11th overall, followed by Channing Nuhfer (20:20) to round out the Dragon scoring.

Both Warren junior high teams were victorious as well.

Warren's Elsie Woldt was the top junior high girl runner with a 10:44 time, followed by Kaylee Ferino for the Knights with an 11:17 time. Naveen Mead earned a third-place finish with a 11:26 pace.

Warren's Curtis McGraw (9:56) was first to cross the junior high boys finish line. Twenty-seven seconds later was Knights' Zach Ayers at 10:23, then Warren's Cole Enos' 10:40 to round out the top three.

"Elsie Woldt and Curtis McGraw continue to show off their talents by once again winning their races," Johnson added.

The Knights head to Rocky Grove on Saturday to compete in the Rocky Grove Invitational, while Warren hosts the Union City Bears on Tuesday for Senior Night at 4 p.m. at Betts.
