Lady Knights finish strong

RUSSELL -- The Eisenhower Lady Knights closed out their regular season with a convincing home region win over Iroquois 9-0.
Eisenhower got off to a slow start on the crisp fall morning, then Lilly Jespersen set up a Rosalie Rondeau goal before scoring one herself.
"It was great to see Lilly back on the field after being out with an injury," said Lady Knights head coach Ashley Elms.
Eisenhower took that lead into halftime and with their playoff chances on the line the Lady Knights were determined to leave an impression on the District 10 playoff-selection committee as they came out with a spark, scoring seven goals and holding the visitors scoreless in the second half.
It took Keira Cressley just two minutes into the half to score, followed quickly by Rondeau's second goal to make it 4-0.
At this point, Elms felt comfortable enough to work some players into unfamiliar positions in preparation for the playoffs. The moves did not faze the Lady Knights as Amelia Smyth took a pass from Josie Elms and Cressley added another goal to increase the lead to 6-0.
Sheayla Johnson made her return from injury and made her presence felt when she took a pass from Smyth and found the back of the net at the 26-minute mark
Abby Jukes added a goal on an assist from Elms and Sophia Wallace added a late goal to close out the scoring for Eisenhower.
"The girls that regularly play on the defensive line all got a chance to play up today. It was great to see the girls finish strong and with so much enthusiasm, this season has been such a blessing with these girls, coming into the program as a new head coach I could not have asked for a better group. We are waiting anxiously and are hopeful to get selected for the playoffs," Elms said following the game.
