ROCKY GROVE -- The Eisenhower Knights competed at the 52nd annual Rocky Grove Invitational on Saturday and came home with some hardware.
The varsity boys earned a 5th place team finish out of 18 total teams, with Parker McBride leading the charge in 21st place and a medal. Earning ribbons for the Knights were Mason Britt in 28th, Alec Lund 34th, and Joey Fanelli in 48th. Also competing were Cameron Lindell in 51st, Brice Ludwick 62nd, and Dylan Shaffer in 122nd.
Izzy Grosch's pace of 23:54 was good for 30th overall and earned her a ribbon. Haley Ferrie came in 88th, and Addy Britt finished in 101st.
Two boys represented the Knights in the junior high race, with Zach Ayers coming in 41st, earning a ribbon, and Dereck Leach in 114th.
The junior high girls had an impressive showing, with Kaylee Ferino coming in 18th place earning a medal, followed by three ribbon winners in Naveen Mead (26th), Evie Carlson (33rd) and Lillan Ishman (37th).
"We didn’t attend this invitational last year, so only five of our Varsity kids had run the 5K course and none of our Junior High had raced the two mile," Eisenhower head coach Darlene Beach commented. "Overall, we had a good day, with quite a few athletes earning awards. The kids are gaining experience with every race as we head into the end of the season."
The Knights have their final Region 4 meet at home this Tuesday, when they host the Seneca Bobcats on senior recognition night.
