The Eisenhower volleyball team is hoping for good news tonight when District 10 officials will meet to select playoff teams.
The Knights did all they could to impress the selection committee by going on the road to defeat Girard in straight sets 25-20, 25-19, 25-19 on Tuesday.
"It was a high-stakes match for us," Eisenhower head coach Lori Pascuzzi said. "We had a lot on the line, needing the win to finish .500 in the region and give ourselves a chance at the playoffs. It was a rough start with Gabriella Hodak getting injured, but freshman Kinley Curtis stepped into her position and did an amazing job."
Several players had impressive games for Eisenhower. Senior Paisley Lawson paced the Knights with 10 kills, four aces, one block, 18 digs and six serve receptions. Alanna Byrd had nine kills, three aces, two blocks, 17 digs, and two serve receptions; Ashlynn Zimmerman had two kills, two blocks and seven digs; Meredith Smyth had one kill, two blocks, 14 digs and 11 serve receptions. Navaeh Bimber had two aces, eight blocks, six digs and three serve receptions; Kadyn Moore had two aces, and nine digs; and Vivian Palmieri and Addy McDonald combined for 10 digs and 12 serve receptions.
Eisenhower's chances of being selected for the playoffs hinge on their record which finished at 9-7 overall and 5-5 in region play.
"We now have to wait to see if we get selected," Pascuzzi said.
