Ike volleyball bounced on Wednesday

By STEVE YOUNGER 2 min read

The Eisenhower volleyball team saw their season end on Wednesday night as they fell to Franklin at Oil City High School in the opening round of the District 10 playoffs.

Eisenhower had taken Franklin to five sets earlier in the season only to see them get the win and this match was nearly identical to the previous meeting as Eisenhower fell 29-27, 24-26, 18-25 and 24-26.

The first set saw Eisenhower open up a 22-14 lead before Franklin was able to tie the game at 24-24. The score went back and forth until Eisenhower pulled ahead and took the win 29-27.

Franklin was able to win the next three sets to take the match and end Eisenhower's season.

Seniors Paisley Lawson and Alanna Byrd both led Eisenhower; Lawson had 10 kills, two aces, four blocks, 19 digs, and eight serve receptions. While Byrd added four kills, an ace, three blocks, 15 digs and 13 serve receptions.

Also having solid games for Eisenhower were Meredith Smyth with eight kills, a block, 16 digs and 24 serve receptions, Naveah Bimber had two kills, three blocks and six digs, Kadyn Moore added three aces, nine digs and a serve reception, Kinley Curtis had a kill, a block, five digs, and a serve reception, Vivian Palmieri had eight digs and 13 serve receptions and Adelyn McDonald had seven digs and seven serve receptions.

Eisenhower head coach following the game,

"The team played well," Eisenhower head coach Lori Pascuzzi said. "Especially since losing two starters to injury in the same week. Franklin is a good, solid team and we played well against them in each set, taking it to overtime in 3 out of the 4 sets. Right now it is incredibly disappointing, especially for our seniors, but I am proud of how our season splayed out."

Eisenhower will lose some key seniors to graduation but with a strong group of underclassmen the future is bright for the Eisenhower volleyball program.
