RUSSELL -- Eisenhower found itself down 5-1 at halftime to Seneca on Monday and nearly caught the Bobcats in the second half, but the Knights comeback fell short in a 7-5 Region 4 boys soccer loss.

The Bobcats jumped out quickly, scoring two goals in the first five minutes of the game before the Knights' Brody Moore scored from a ricochet off the Seneca goalie for the only Eisenhower goal of the first half.

The Knights came out of the break down 5-1, but with a never-say-die attitude began to chip away at the Seneca lead.

Eisenhower's Jaydon Fry took a pass from Braydon Frank and found the back of the net at the 38-minute mark to make it 5-2.

The Bobcats would score again before the Knights got two goals from Rever Caudill to cut the lead to 6-4 with 9:34 remaining in the game.

Seneca would give itself some breathing room with a goal at the 6:34 mark to make it 7-4.

Eisenhower's Mason Degnan would score the final goal for the Knights on a breakaway with just over a minute remaining to make the final score 7-5.

Eisenhower head coach Michael Taylor was disappointed in the loss but was proud of the effort of his team.

"The boys just gave an outstanding effort against a region-title contender," he said. "I'm proud of the effort of our seniors in the game, for the fight, and the pride they showed, they never slowed down. I also wanted to give a shout out to Brody Moore on his first varsity goal."

The Knights are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Saegertown for another Region 4 contest.
