Baum: control of the line of scrimmage will be key

Jodi Baum has been coaching football for more than 30 years. In just his ninth career game as Warren's head coach, tonight might be the most important one to date. The Altoona native is looking forward to the county clash, and will have his team as prepared as possible.
With the Fall Brawl of 2026 on the horizon, Baum touched on his keys to the game, and what he feels his Dragons need to do to secure the victory.
"I think it comes down to how well we control the line on both ends of the ball," stated Baum. "It all starts up front with our ability to control the line of scrimmage offensive and defensively."
If the lines hold firm, Baum believes, the Dragons can make some noise with the run game.
"We have three good running backs we can use, but we also have the opportunity to open it up with our receivers," he said. "We also have to control the clock. The kids need to have a good attitude coming out, and they need to be confident. That is what we have been working on all year. If we can control the ball, big things can happen."
Despite being his first year as a head coach in Warren County, Baum is well aware of, and heavily respects, Eisenhower football and coach Jim Penley.
"Eisenhower is a great team," Baum said. "They are very well-coached, so we have to be prepared. Our kids have the utmost respect for Coach Penley and the kids.
"This is a county rivalry that is just getting started. There's no doubt it will bring the community together. Win or lose, this game will make so many memories for the kids that will last a lifetime. I'm excited."
Kickoff for the heavily anticipated matchup is 7 p.m. at Eisenhower High School. Gates open at 5 p.m.
