CLARION -- The Warren girls volleyball team is off to a strong start to the 2026 season as the Dragons swept District 9 powerhouse Clarion on Thursday evening.
The Dragons onslaught was simply too much for the Bobcats, as they swept the home team 25-18, 25-21, 25-13.
"It was a nice way for us to start our season, playing pretty well against such a great, well coached program as Clarion," said head coach Mike Dolan. "It was, as always, a tough place to play as well. We did a nice job covering our hitters and recycling balls to attack. Our defense kept a lot of balls in play and our front row players did a nice job battling at the net."
Attie Corey had an impressive 11 kills for the Dragons, with Hailey Cabisca chipping in five kills and four aces. Malysia Sorensen contributed 14 digs, Brynn Norris had 29 assists, Lara Pearson six kills, and Julia Getner added in seven kills and three aces.
"Julia Getner played a great game as she was very physical at the net and her serving gave us some separation to start the match," Dolan said. "We'll continue to work on being more efficient on offense and look to continue working hard this weekend at the Fort LeBoeuf tournament."
In junior varsity play, the Bobcats were victorious over the Dragons by a score of 25-19, 25-22. Kendall Skerda recorded six kills, two blocks and five digs, with Kelsey Johnson getting four kills and four digs. Also highlighting the stat sheet was Taylor Swanson at four aces and three kills, Lexi Nuhfer with five assists and Monica Malczyk with five assists.
The Dragons look to continue their success at the highly competitive Fort LeBoeuf tournament over Labor Day weekend.
