OIL CITY -- The Warren volleyball team stayed hot Tuesday as the Dragons defeated Oil City 26-24, 25-10, 25-12 in Region 4 action.
The Dragons warded off a tough Oilers front, which seemed to take the wind out of the home team. Sets two and three were light work for the Dragons as they found their groove and took control.
Reaching double digit kills for the Dragons were Attie Corey with 12 and Hailey Cabisca with 10. Lara Pearson had nine kills with Brynn Norris assisting 28 times in the win. Recording seven aces was Paiden Johnson with three each from Addison Ristau and Malysia Sorensen, who also had 14 digs on the day.
The junior varsity squad was also victorious, defeating the Oilers 25-23, 25-19. Lexi Nuhfer had 12 assists, followed by Kendall Skerda's three kills and three digs. Alice Pearson and Marie Malczyk each recorded four digs, Kelsey Johnson had five kills and three aces, and Luci Salvatore tallied three kills and seven digs.
The Dragons are back on the court Thursday when they host the Harbor Creek Huskies at Warren Area High School with junior varsity at 6 p.m. and varsity to follow.
MONDAY
DUBOIS -- Warren's girls volleyball team picked up another win Monday evening when they made the trip to DuBois, defeating the Beavers 25-17, 25-20, 25-23.
The Dragons stayed consistent on the offensive end and capitalized when they needed it most.
Hailey Cabisca and Lara Pearson notched double-digit kills, with 15 and 13, respectively. Attie Corey tallied eight kills, Malysia Sorensen had 13 digs, and Brynn Norris had an impressive 33 assists and two aces. Paiden Johnson served three aces while Cabisca and Brooke Sherry chipped in two apiece.
