ERIE -- Warren stayed hot Thursday as the Dragons defeated the Erie High Royals 25-7, 25-12, 25-17 in Region 4 volleyball.
It was an all-around victory for the Dragons as many players contributed and played their part. Lara Pearson recorded nine kills, with Brynn Norris adding in 22 assists and three aces. Malysia Sorensen had seven digs and Michaela Dolan notched nine assists. Each having five kills in the outing were Hailey Cabisca, Attie Corey, Brooke Sherry and Peyton Cabisca, and Kendall Skerda had four herself.
The Dragons will try to use the momentum moving forward to next Tuesday as they have a potential District 10 championship preview matchup as they travel to Corry to take on the Beavers.
"This year our teamwork and communication has been strong," Pearson, an outside hitter, said. "Our passing, setting, and offense have all been going good this season. I believe we have a strong team now but we will always have something we need to improve on. I think for this match we will need to try to limit errors so we can get the points that we need."
Tuesday's match isn't just about two rivals facing each other. It is a heavyweight matchup featuring two top-5 Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association-ranked teams. The Beavers currently hold the No. 4 rank in the state of Pennsylvania, with the No. 5 Dragons looking to change that.
"I expect the gym to be a loud and energetic environment," Pearson said of Tuesday's matchup. "I think it will be full with fans from both teams cheering and supporting either team. This is going to be a big game for us and we hope to come home with a big win."
The junior varsity squad got the win in a hard-fought 26-24, 17-15, 15-7 battle.
The Tuesday bout begins with junior varsity at 6 p.m. with varsity to follow at 7:15 p.m.
