MEADVILLE -- Warren senior golfers Gavin Haibach and Hayden Hendricks ended their high school golf careers Friday at Whispering Pines Golf Course.
Selected to participate in District 10's first-ever "Last Chance Qualifier," Haibach and Hendricks competed against four other golfers from AAA, with the low scorer of the day punching the final ticket to the individual District 10 competition next week at Meadville Country Club.
Haibach birdied two of the final three holes, but his 83 fell unfortunately just short of Meadville's Michael Mangine, who shot an 80 on the day to qualify.
Hendricks did not have his best day, but did have a birdie in the round and didn't go down without a fight.
"I am proud of how both Gavin and Hayden have grown up and become fantastic kids and golfers since their first day as a Warren Dragon golfer," Warren head coach Nate Sandberg said. "They have set a wonderful standard of leadership for the next group of kids to step up."
Michael Palmieri is the lone Dragon boy golfer remaining. He competes next Tuesday, then Wednesday if he makes the cut.
